MHPS Europe has signed two contracts for modernization measures at the Elbistan A and B lignite power plants in Turkey. For Elbistan B, MHPS Europe will supply a modification of the Distributed Control System (DCS) for a natural gas conversion. Last year, MHPS Europe had already prepared a study for EÜAS, the state-owned operator of the power plant, on how to increase the output of the utility steam generators to 80% boiler load.
The customer of Elbistan A, private group Celikler Holding, awarded MHPS Europe for basic engineering (firing system, burners, mills, filters, et.) for the boiler rehabilitation of the four units. Among other things, the operator wants to bring the plant, which is more than 40 years old, up to date with the latest technology, thus enabling it to continue operating under more stringent emission limits. The utility steam generator, the firing system as well as the mills and burners originally came from the MHPS Europe predecessor company Babcock. The basic engineering is to be completed by April next year.
