In industries or data centers, for example, waste heat can be recovered from process and machinery. Ambient sources e.g. river water or geothermal heat can be used as effective and low cost heat input to optimize process heat balances. The installation of a heat pump in cogeneration plants improves the plant flexibility and increases the efficiency on many levels.
