MHPS Receives Full-turnkey Order for GTCC Power Generation System for Indonesia's State-owned Electricity Company -- Expansion Project for Muara Karang Power Plant, LTSA also signed --

No.073
Signing Ceremony

Yokohama, September 7, 2016 -- Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems, Ltd. (MHPS), together with Mitsubishi Corporation and PT. Wijaya Karya (Persero) Tbk. (WIKA), a leading Indonesian civil construction firm, has received a full-turnkey order for a 500 megawatts (MW) expansion of the Muara Karang natural-gas-fired gas turbine combined cycle (GTCC) power plant from PT. PLN (Persero), Indonesia's state-owned electricity company, combined with a Long-Term Service Agreement (LTSA). Operation of this new power plant will be commenced in 2019.

Muara Karang Power Plant is located approximately 10 kilometers (km) northeast of the capital Jakarta. This project is part of a 35,000 MW power expansion program under way by the Indonesian Government to meet the country's rapidly increasing demand for electric power along with economic growth. Once on-stream, the new power plant will help respond to the capital region's robust demand for electric power.

In this project, MHPS will supply main equipment including M701F gas turbine, steam turbine and auxiliaries for a GTCC plant. A generator manufactured by Mitsubishi Electric Corporation will be deployed. Civil construction and installation work will be handled by WIKA.
Additionally, once operation commences, MHPS will provide maintenance and management support including remote monitoring service and assignment of a site service director for the GTCC plant under an LTSA.

MHPS previously supplied two M701F gas turbines for Cilegon, Indonesia's first introduction of the F-type gas turbine, in 2006. This was followed by two M701F gas turbines for the Muara Karang Power Plant in 2011, and a further two for the Tanjung Priok Power Plant in 2012.
Furthermore, at the beginning of 2016, MHPS received a full-turnkey order for an 880MW of GTCC power plant based on two M701F gas turbines as an expansion project of the Tanjung Priok Power Plant (Jawa-2 project).

PLN commented "The order has again shown MHPS continuing good reputation in supplying their gas turbine technology to PLN for the past decades and has been providing power to the most important national grid of Jawa-Bali system."

GTCC plants are highly efficient systems that generate power with a gas turbine, then use the high-temperature exhaust gas to generate additional power from a steam turbine. MHPS is the leading supplier in large-scale gas turbines in Indonesia.

Going forward, MHPS will further strengthen proactive sales and marketing activities for its GTCC power generation system that contributes to more effective energy utilization and CO2 reductions in Indonesia and around the world.
