At Mitsubishi Power, we take pride in celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month, a time to honor the rich cultural diversity that strengthens our company. This month, we shine a spotlight on our dedicated employees in Mexico, whose contributions and vibrant cultural heritage play a crucial role in our success.

Business Opportunities and Allyship in Mexico

Mitsubishi Power de México, established in 2011, has been at the forefront of providing innovative power solutions. Our presence in Mexico has opened numerous business opportunities, fostering strong alliances and driving growth in the energy sector. From geothermal projects in Azufres III and the rehabilitation of the Rio Escondido Coal Plant, to the development of the most modern, highly efficient Gas Turbine Combined Cycle Power Plants, our team in Mexico has been instrumental in executing key projects that contribute to the country’s energy infrastructure.

Alma’s cultural values of family, honesty, and hard work are central to her approach at Mitsubishi Power. “El valor de la familia como eje central en nuestra vida, la honestidad y trabajar duro, ser entusiastas ante las adversidades y vivir al máximo.” (The value of family as the central axis in our lives, honesty, and hard work, being enthusiastic in the face of adversity, and living life to the fullest.)

Also outside of our family circle, during our lives we choose external people who become our second family, giving us the confidence to develop individually. That is valuable as well)

Cultural Influence: The Soul of Our Team

The cultural heritage of our employees is a cornerstone of their dedication and bright personalities. Alma, Karla, and Bárbara each bring unique cultural values that influence their approach to work and teamwork.

Imagine the vibrant office of Mitsubishi Power de Mexico, where every month, the team gathers to celebrate birthdays. The room fills with the joyful melody of “Las Mañanitas,” and the air is sweet with the scent of freshly baked cake. Alma shares, “En nuestra oficina tenemos algunas celebraciones como: el fin de cada mes nos reunimos para cantar las ‘las mañanitas’ a las personas que cumplieron un nuevo año en el mes además de compartir un rebanada de pastel.” (In our office, we have some celebrations like at the end of each month, we gather to sing ‘Las Mañanitas’ to those who had a birthday that month and share a slice of cake.)

During Día de Reyes, every January 6th, a national holiday, the office buzzes with excitement as everyone eagerly slices into the Rosca de Reyes, hoping to find the tiny figurine hidden inside. Laughter and playful teasing ensue as the lucky (or unlucky) finder is tasked with bringing tamales for Día de la Candelaria. “En Enero festejamos el día de Reyes Magos y compartimos un pedazo de rosca ‘pan tradicional’ que puede tener un muñeco en medio, si te toco muñeco, deberás invitar tamales para todos el próximo 2 de Febrero ‘Dia de la Candelaria’,” Alma explains. (In January, we celebrate the day of the Three Wise Men and share a piece of ‘traditional bread’ that may have a figurine in the middle. If you get the figurine, you must bring tamales for everyone on February 2nd, ‘Candlemas Day.’)
